Tabmark Extension — Privacy Policy
Effective Date: November 1, 2025
Product: Tabmark Browser Extension
Developer: Applied Information Design (Portland, Oregon)
1. Overview
Tabmark is designed with privacy as a core principle.
The extension keeps your bookmarks, tab information, and browsing behavior on your device, unless you choose to share selected information with external services.
We do not collect analytics, tracking data, or personal usage metrics.
This Privacy Policy describes what the extension does and does not transmit.
2. Data Stored and Processed Locally
Tabmark stores all functional data locally on your device, including:
- Bookmarks
- Folder structures
- Tab information
- Browsing activity used by the extension
We do not collect or transmit:
- Personal data
- Click data
- Usage behavior
- Interaction logs
- Browsing history
Note on Browser Sync
Tabmark reads the bookmarks already stored in your browser in order to display and organize them.
Many browsers offer optional built-in sync features (such as Chrome Sync, Firefox Sync, Edge Sync, or Brave Sync) that may store your bookmarks or settings in the vendor’s cloud services.
These sync services are operated solely by the browser vendor and are subject to their respective privacy policies.
Tabmark does not transmit your bookmarks to any external server, and it does not control, manage, or modify how any browser vendor handles synced bookmark data.
All processing performed by Tabmark itself remains local to your device.
3. Favicon Retrieval
When displaying bookmarks, your browser may retrieve website icons (“favicons”) from Google’s favicon service.
During this process:
- Your device’s IP address may be visible to Google.
- Tabmark does not send any data to Google beyond the standard favicon request made by the browser.
- If a favicon is not available, Tabmark displays a locally generated fallback icon.
Tabmark does not transmit any personal data during favicon retrieval.
4. Optional AI Assist and External Queries
Tabmark includes optional tools that allow you to send information—such as search queries or selected bookmark data—to external services (e.g., search engines or large-language-model APIs).
Important safeguards:
- Nothing is transmitted automatically.
- Only bookmarks or text you explicitly select are sent.
- You must initiate each action manually.
- You should review the privacy policies of any external services you choose to use.
5. License Validation (Pro Version Only)
The Pro version validates your license using a secure connection to our server.
For this purpose, the extension may send:
- Your email address
- Your license code
- A non-reversible hash of your license key
- A non-reversible hash of your device identifier
We do not collect:
- Bookmark contents
- Browsing history
- Tab activity
- IP addresses
- Analytics
- Usage statistics beyond device-count enforcement
This information is used solely to:
- Confirm license validity
- Enforce fair personal use
- Prevent abuse such as publicly shared license keys
6. No Collection of Content or Behavior
Tabmark does not collect, store, or transmit:
- The content of your bookmarks
- Which bookmarks you click
- Your tab activity
- Your browsing history
- Your usage frequency or patterns
All data remains on your device unless you intentionally choose to share specific items.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
The “Effective Date” above reflects the most recent version.
